How It Works

Lessons, pricing, and getting started

River Road keeps things simple: pick the lesson that fits, and start with an introduction lesson so we can get to know the rider.

Getting started

  1. 1

    Request your introduction lesson

Fill out a short form telling us about the rider — age, experience, and preferred times.

  2. 2

    Talk with our team

We reach out to learn about the rider's goals and answer any questions before the first lesson.

  3. 3

    Start riding

Once your introduction lesson is scheduled and confirmed, you are on your way.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any riding experience to start?
No. River Road welcomes complete beginners alongside intermediate and advanced riders. Every lesson is paced to the individual rider.
How old does a rider need to be?
We teach both children and adults. Younger riders often begin with shorter 30-minute lessons; tell us the rider's age on the booking form and we'll recommend the right fit.
What's the difference between a 30-minute and a 1-hour lesson?
Most riders book 1-hour private lessons. 30-minute lessons are reserved for riders under six years old and for members of the Team Membership program.
What should I wear?
Long pants and a sturdy closed-toe shoe with a small heel are essential. See the What to Wear page for full details.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the scheduled lesson will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the lesson are non-refundable, except at Hannah's discretion.
